The game has 12 levels, each with a different theme and layout. Along the way, Spencer will face various enemies and obstacles, as well as uncover the truth behind the Albatross project and his own past. The game follows Spencer's mission to rescue his fellow commando Super Joe from the Empire, a fascist regime that is trying to complete a secret weapon known as the Albatross project. It also serves as a prelude to the 2009 sequel Bionic Commando. It features updated graphics, a remixed soundtrack, new weapons and bionic arm abilities, bigger bosses and an all-new co-op mode.
